ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR: Social and Economic Justice

The Maryland Catholic Conference, the statewide public policy organization for the Catholic Church in Maryland, is seeking a dynamic Associate Director for Social and Economic Justice who has a passion for working toward the common good and advocating on behalf of the vulnerable in our society.

The Associate Director will oversee state-level legislative advocacy efforts to advance the respect for the life and dignity of each person, particularly the poor and vulnerable, on issues such as fair access to health care, shelter, food, work and basic necessities; keeping communities safe from violence and injustice; and caring for the environment that is God’s creation.

We are looking for a creative, positive and effective advocate to collaborate with our team and coalition partners in advocating and lobbying with members of the General Assembly and state government.

Minimum requirements: Commitment to the Catholic Church and knowledge of Church teaching; bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience in government relations, issue advocacy and strategy, or Catholic Social Teaching advocacy; excellent skills in writing, public speaking, and interpersonal relations.
